Working Memory and Human Cognition.John T. E. Richardson, Randall W. Engle, Lynn Hasher, Robert H. Logie, Ellen R. Stoltzfus & Rose T. Zacks - 1996 - Oxford University Press USA.
As interest in working memory is increasing at a rapid pace, an open discussion of the central issues involved is both useful and timely. This new volume compares and contrasts conceptions of working memory, with contributions from proponents of different views.

    A Further Note on Trimalchio's Zodiac Dish.T. W. Richardson - 1972 - Classical Quarterly 22 (01):149-.
Much else was done by Rose and Sullivan in their possibly conclusive attempt to restore sense to the rebus passage, but the reading super scorpionem locustam was Gaselee's, as Rose and Sullivan clearly acknowledge. This seems unluckily to have escaped B. Baldwin, otherwise he would have noticed that Gaselee also fancied in his correction an allusion to the poisoner Locusta. For those who may have difficulty in obtaining Gaselee's collotype reproduction, I quote the relevant part: ‘But what have lobsters to (...)

Philosophy of Science and Its Rational Reconstructions: Remarks on the VPI Program for Testing Philosophies of Science.Alan W. Richardson - 1992 - PSA Proceedings of the Biennial Meeting of the Philosophy of Science Association 1992 (1):36-46.
For a number of years now, we, as philosophers of science, have been enjoined by more and more of our colleagues to understand the task of developing a philosophy of science to be itself a scientific task. We are told that if we want to understand science we have no better (and perhaps indeed no other) path to such an understanding than the path of science itself. We should view ourselves as ultimately attempting to arrive at a relatively complete theoretical (...)

Gender Differences in Human Cognition.John T. E. Richardson, Paula J. Caplan, Mary Crawford & Janet Shibley Hyde - 1997 - Oxford University Press USA.
For years, both psychologists and the general public have been fascinated with the notion that there are gender differences in cognitive abilities; even now, flashy cover stories exploiting this idea dominate major news magazines, while research focuses on differences in verbal, mathematical, spatial, and scientific abilities across gender. This new volume in the Counterpoints series not only summarizes and addresses the validity of such research, but also questions its ideology and consequences. Why do we search so intently for these differences? (...)

Über den Fetischcharakter in der Musik und die Regression des Hörens.T. W. Adorno - 1938 - Zeitschrift für Sozialforschung 7 (3):321-356.
This essay offers a theoretical analysis of the changes which are taking place in the musical consciousness of listeners in the present phase of society. The author seeks rather to deduce the conditions of musical reception from the present stage of musical production. The first part of the article deals with changes in production as they affect the general consciousness of listeners. Light music is discussed as well as serious music insofar as it reaches the consumer. Changes in reception are (...)

    Locating Consciousness: Why Experience Can't Be Objectified.T. W. Clark - 2019 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 26 (11-12):60-85.
The world appears to conscious creatures in terms of experienced sensory qualities, but science doesn't find sensory experience in that world, only physical objects and properties. I argue that the failure to locate consciousness in the world is a function of our necessarily representational relation to reality as knowers: we won't discover the terms in which reality is represented by us in the world as it appears in those terms. Qualia -- arguably a type of representational content -- will therefore (...)

    Fragmente über Wagner.T. W. Adorno - 1939 - Zeitschrift für Sozialforschung 8 (1-2):1-49.
The article consists of four chapters taken from a comprehensive study on Wagner. The first chapter discusses the character of the man Wagner. The author undertakes a social analysis which reveals Wagner to be a bourgeois figure who is no longer able to fulfill the monadological claims of bourgeois society, and who actually deserts to the ruling powers while seemingly in conflict with the society of his day. This analysis is made particularly clear through a study of Wagner's anti-Semitism.The following sections, (...)

    Educational Theory: An Introduction.T. W. Moore - 1974 - London ; Boston : Routledge and K. Paul.
This book comes strongly to the defence of educational theory and shows that it has a structure and integrity of its own. The author argues that the validity of educational theory may best be judged in terms of the various assumptions made in it. His argument is illustrated by a review and critique of some particularly influential theories of education: those of Plato, Rousseau, James Mill and John Dewey. He stresses the need for an on-going, contemporary, general theory of education (...)
